2-Minute Guided Mindfulness Meditation – Buzzing Rusty Patch Bumble Bee

Guided 2 Minute Mindfulness Meditation with Nature Photography – Buzzing Rusty Patch Bumble Bee

Do this for you. Take two minutes out of your day to slow down your breathing, de-stress, release any anxiety/tension, and give your mind a mental break. Being in nature and/or looking at nature photography can provide countless benefits. As I discussed in my first ever post, research shows that spending time in nature, or even just looking at it through photography can reduce stress, depression and anxiety, slow down breathing, lower heart rate, and much, more (disclaimer: please note that I am not a Doctor or a licensed professional in this field. Without further ado, let’s start to unwind.

Wherever you are, take a few seconds to get as comfortable as possible, and focus on your breathing.

Inhale for 4 seconds.

Hold your breath for 4 seconds.

Release your breath for 4 seconds.

Repeat this 2-3 times. Close your eyes for a moment if that feels right for you.

Now. Take a look at the photograph and imagine yourself in the following environment:

Picture yourself sitting on the ground right next to a big, bright pink coneflower.

You feel a gentle breeze blowing on your skin.

You hear a familiar ‘buzzing’ sound as a bee lands right in front of you on the flower.

As you sit and watch the bee in the warm summer sun, what other sounds do you hear?

Sit and contemplate this scene and focus on your inhale, hold and exhale for as long as you are able. As you go throughout your day (or if you find yourself up at night), come back to this photograph, the scene you created in your mind and your breath.

I love this! We have several acres of wildflowers – we’re part of a prairie reclamation plan. And coneflowers and bees are part of my everyday life in the warm seasons. I get so lost in being out there with them, I have to set the alarm on my phone! Meditating with them is how I grow closer to God – He speaks to my heart and soul out there. 🙂

I am lucky that we stay on a farm and I get to go home every day to peace and quiet. I really need it because I drive through peak hour traffic and see clients in a very busy city during the day. I am all on board with settling down and doing a little mindful practice in the evenings. Thanks for a great post, I will be following your advise tonight!

Love doing these early in the morning with my cup of coffee in hand. <3

Thank you again for pushing and encouraging us to be more mindful in a world where it's easy to be anything BUT. 🙂
